Summary
The construction laborer is responsible for performing various tasks and general labor functions at construction sites in a safe and efficient manner for project sites locally and/or nationwide. The primary role is to assist the superintendent and other crew members in the installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems, including concrete, masonry, metals, wood, plastics, thermal and moisture protection, doors, windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, and special construction.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assist with installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems.
- Adhere to CCS’ safety culture, including use of hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, reflective clothing, and assigned harnesses.
- Maintain overall safety of all persons on the job site daily.
- Perform tasks safely and seek proper training when needed.
- Know the location of first aid kit, fire extinguisher, MSDS, and emergency information when reporting to the job site.
- Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
- Use, maintain, and inspect safety equipment and personal protective equipment prior to use.
- Keep the project site clean and appearance professional daily.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition with all safety guards and features in place and complete safety inspections as requested.
- Flexibility in hours is required; schedules may change due to outside factors including weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel where required.
- Perform job in a professional manner (appearance, language, behavior).
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Operate and tend machinery and heavy equipment.
- Follow instructions from the Superintendent and implement construction plans.
- Assist skilled tradespeople in their duties.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
- At least 1 year of construction experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment used in various trades.
- General knowledge of construction industry and sub‑contractor trades.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem‑solving and organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and multitasking.
- Perform tasks and follow directions accurately and within specified timeframe.
- Mechanical aptitude to handle physical and demanding requirements of the position.
- Take pride in servicing the customer and have strong commitment to safety.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems before they become major issues.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Establish good working relationships with customers, superintendents, PMs, subcontractors, and crew.
- Travel frequently up to 75% of the time.
- Traverse and inspect all areas of a job site in all weather conditions.
- Endure hot and cold temperatures on job sites.
- Endure dusty, muddy, slippery, and wet conditions, depending on the time of year.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site danger.
