Equipment Validation Engineer - North America
BD (Tissuemed Ltd) is inviting applications for the Equipment Validation Engineer – North America. The role supports all BD manufacturing sites globally in capital deployment of breakthrough and capacity replacement programs. You will drive integration and manage end‑to‑end implementation of process and equipment at BD‑appointed production sites, partnering with sites for seamless transition and rapid startup.
Responsibilities- Participate in FAT and SAT with the EDE team.
- Prepare an installation plan and full validation of equipment.
- Manage integration of new equipment validation and vertical start‑up into existing manufacturing processes, ensuring training plans and competence assessments are completed.
- Minimize disruption to ongoing operations during equipment or software integration and address any issues or roadblocks.
- Support documentation of equipment instruction and process parameters; provide site training on new equipment and application.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance during ramp‑up to support long‑term capability, OEE targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve integration processes, tools, and methodologies, staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Ensure equipment and installation comply with Environmental Health & Safety, international standards, and company policies, including lock‑out/tag‑out, controls, and guarding.
- Measure and oversee performance on equipment operability, minimizing downtime.
- Coordinate handover to other departments (operations/maintenance/quality) to ensure smooth production ramp‑up and alignment with company objectives.
- Manage adherence to production ramp‑up plans, ensuring newly installed equipment meets performance targets.
- Resolve integration issues, collaborating with engineering teams or vendors to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Execute test plans to verify functionality, process windows, performance, and reliability of equipment (e.g., FAT, SAT, validation, commissioning).
- Perform center alignment of equipment to optimize performance.
- Document equipment, including architecture diagrams, specifications, test reports, maintenance, and control plans.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or Project Management.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible engineering and project management experience.
- Extensive experience integrating equipment within complex manufacturing sites with a strong focus on validation and vertical start‑up.
- Proven lean leadership experience with data‑driven decision making.
- Leadership expertise in project and capital management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment systems and processes.
- Knowledge of EHS, safety regulations, and best practices for equipment integration.
Up to 50% travel is required. BD expects a minimum of four days of in‑office presence per week for most roles, with flexibility for remote and field‑based arrangements as specified in the posting.
