Molding Reliability Engineer – BD Nogales Norte

Apply scientific molding techniques and design of experiments to establish robust process windows and improve quality and efficiency.

• Establish a robust process window using Scientific / Decoupled Molding techniques and design of experiments (DOEs).
• Identify relationships between key input (KPIVs) and output (KPOVs) variables for each component.
• Specify equipment required for the molding cell, including press, robot, EOAT, hot runner controller, hydronic controls, material loader, weigh blender, dryers, and inspection tools.
• Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) at the mold vendor.
• Maintain a working knowledge of quality procedures and work instructions.
• Provide technical process support and mentor molding technicians.
• Interface daily with the Manufacturing Manager to resolve production needs, improve OEE, and reduce scrap.
• Manage the sampling program.
• Develop documentation requirements for all processes, including process sheets, setup databases, special notes, and history records.
• Create and administer training programs for process and mold setup technicians on new equipment.
• Track production schedules and address technical issues to support the schedule.
• Lead new mold sampling, DOE projects, material sampling, and engineering changes.
• Define injection molding and robotic processes for all new jobs.
• Set acceptable process variation allowances and windows.
• Act as technical lead on OEE improvement projects, including scrap reduction and equipment improvements.
• Assist in automation projects and continuous improvement activities.
• Provide guidance for mold and hot runner design.
• Coordinate cost, delivery, and quality objectives for design, construction, and validation of injection molding projects.
• Ensure proper sizing of the molding cell for the application.
• Perform other duties as required to support business needs.

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred:
  Associate's degree in Plastics Engineering or related engineering field.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering or related engineering field.

• 10 years medical molding experience with a High School Diploma.
• 5 years’ experience with an Associate’s Degree.
• No experience required with a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
