Our pharmacy technician positions have undergone an exciting transformation, moving from a transaction-based environment to a patient‑centric one. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be front and center – interacting with customers and developing strong patient relationships.

$17.00/hr – $20.50/hr

Walgreens is proud to offer an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship path leads to a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and equips you with a nationally recognized credential.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including greeting customers, offering assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.
• Engage customers and patients, maintain strong relationships, and demonstrate Walgreens service traits such as proactive help and attentive service.
• Under pharmacist supervision, enter patient and drug information accurately, fill prescriptions, verify medication, check for interactions, and assist in scheduling and workflow maintenance.
• Report prescription errors, adhere to company policies, and participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Register all sales on assigned cash registers, handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle when appropriate.
• Handle non‑pharmacist telephone calls, including physician calls.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
• Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and file claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
• Assist in administering clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with local medical providers, including outreach to health groups and retirement homes.
• Help keep the Pharmacy Department stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Comply with all company policies, maintain respectful coworker relationships, and complete special assignments as needed.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or other state‑required certification.
• Attend training requested by management and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
