The general function of this job is to set up, changeover, improve and maintain production equipment so that quality and quantity standards are met or exceeded. Responsibilities include training and developing operators, providing on‑floor leadership, ensuring compliance with BD quality systems, policies and local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, and maintaining punctual attendance. The role requires the ability to read, write and converse in English and a willingness to uphold BD Values.

• Perform changeovers and set up equipment properly.
• Keep equipment running in excellent repair to meet production and quality standards.
• Generate accurate maintenance records and other required documentation.
• Maintain machine cleanliness and perform preventive maintenance.
• Provide coverage for absent colleagues.
• Assist operators during break times and help run equipment.
• Lead teams in scheduling, process improvement, safety and continuous improvement.
• Work safely, handle chemicals properly and ensure the safety of coworkers.
• Comply with other management requests.
• Work in a clean‑room environment and follow all GMP rules.
• Perform other duties as required to support business needs.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in a mechanical‑related field preferred.

• Mechanical skills, education or background required.

• Proficiency in mechanical work.
• Troubleshooting and problem‑solving proficiency.
• Hand tool and gauge knowledge.
• Independent thinking proficiency.
• Teamwork proficiency.
• Leadership skills proficiency.
• May require respirators and annual fit testing.
• May require annual HAZWOPER training or participation in a Chemical Emergency Response Team.
