Position SummaryThis position supports the Molding operation through Planned Maintenance. The candidate must have a basic knowledge of injection molds, and will collaborate to complete mold maintenance across business units efficiently and cost‑effectively. The role requires a strong mechanical and technical background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate machine tools. Compliance with BD quality systems, policies, and safety regulations is essential.
Regular, punctual attendance and proficient English communication are required.
- Disassemble molds and determine parts needing repair or replacement.
- Clean mold plates and all components.
- Check proper gating, venting, and cooling of mold.
- Record and maintain all maintenance documentation.
- Polish cavities and cores to specified finishes.
- Troubleshoot and analyze mold problems.
- Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
- Use measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, travel dials) to ensure fit and tolerance within .0002–.0005".
- Wire molds and read an OHM meter for electrical diagnostics.
- Construct or rebuild mold components per prints using available machine tools.
- Assemble mold and components maintaining dimensional tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area with emphasis on 5’s.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as required to support the business.
- Be a dependable, highly motivated self‑starter who works with minimal supervision.
This position does not supervise any associates at any level.
Education & QualificationsEducation Required: Associate’s degree in Machining Technology, Mold Making, or related certificate.
Experience: Preferred 2 years in a mold repair or mold making environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Basic:
Molding, mold design, material flow, mold tool steels, Microsoft Office. - Proficient:
Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repair; machine modification and process improvement; ability to read mold drawings; use of micrometers, indicators, gage blocks; operation of machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders); troubleshooting for continuous improvement.
On‑site collaboration is prioritized, with a minimum of 4 days in‑office per week. Remote or field-based positions may differ.
