Role Overview

To conduct acid-etch and mag particle tests to verify wire weld quality. Perform steel and purchased part inspections as required. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set-up and check dimensions on parts, using metrology instruments, to ensure parts meet quality standards and that dimensions are accurate.
  • Perform acid etch and mag particle tests on prescribed basis.
  • Perform steel and purchased part inspections as required.
  • Perform sorts, audits, and rework products.
  • Train employees in proper procedures and job skills.
  • Enter data into the computer from paper documents for record keeping purposes.
  • Interface with the Quality Manager to address quality issues.
  • Contact vendors as quality concerns are detected.
  • Interface with vendor until resolution has been attained.
  • Engage in problem solving.
  • Follow safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement activities such as Red X / DOE activities.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required with completion of established curriculum and/or demonstrated understanding of skills.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience.
Competencies
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of acid etch requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of product and processes.
  • Blueprint reading skills.
  • Knowledge of quality standards – AIAG/ASQC, ASME, AITF
    16949.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Computer and math skills sufficient for department tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
Licensure

Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

Work Environment

Work is primarily in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

Regular use of hands and fingers, visual effort, movement throughout the plant, lifting up to 40 pounds, and other physical activities are required. Travel to customer locations may be needed.
