Position SummaryBig Pals Little Pals of Greater Columbus is seeking a dedicated and mission‑driven Executive Director to lead the overall operations of the organization. Reporting directly to the Volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for program management, mentor/mentee matching, fundraising, financial oversight, community engagement, and compliance with organizational standards, United Way requirements, MENTOR Nebraska standards, and applicable laws. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for someone passionate about youth mentorship, community impact, and nonprofit leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Manage recruitment, onboarding, screening, interviews, and education of Big Pals (mentors).
- Interview Little Pals and their guardians and compile relevant information to ensure successful mentor/mentee matches.
- Plan and organize match events that promote the mission of the organization.
- Oversee and coordinate fundraising and community outreach events throughout the year.
- Research and apply for new grant funding opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and reporting.
- Manage the organization’s annual budget, including bookkeeping, payroll, and fiscal reporting.
- Serve as the primary liaison to The United Way, MENTOR Nebraska, and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands.
- Fulfill expectations as a United Way partner agency, including serving on a United Way Board as required.
- Act as the primary community representative through events, marketing, social media, and outreach efforts.
- Maintain and oversee organizational supplies and facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations within the community
- Previous leadership‑level experience in nonprofit management or a related field
- Experience with grant writing and grant management
- Experience in fundraising and financial management
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Some bending, lifting, stooping, and stretching required
- Normal range of hearing and vision
- Manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination to operate office equipment
- Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds
