Facilities Associate

Columbus, NE Pay Rate: $18.84 $ 19.59 per hour

Schedule:

Full-Time, 1st Shift | Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 4:00 PM

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Associate to join our team in Columbus, Nebraska! This full-time position is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience in building maintenance, carpentry, concrete work and general construction. The ideal candidate takes initiative, works well with others and is committed to maintaining safe, functional, and well‑maintained facilities.

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, windows, doors and furnishings.
• Complete rough and finished carpentry projects, including drywall installation, painting, cabinet construction, door hanging, window installation and lock repairs.
• Perform concrete forming, finishing and related construction projects.
• Assist with masonry projects involving brick and concrete block.
• Operate construction and maintenance equipment, including tractors, skid loaders and jackhammers.
• Assist with maintenance planning, scheduling, supply inventory and delivery inspections.
• Respond to emergencies during and after regular business hours to address immediate safety concerns.
• Assist with snow removal, including shoveling, plowing, and sanding sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and steps.
• Provide work direction and training to other personnel as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation, follow safety procedures and protect district property.
• Communicate maintenance needs and project updates to leadership while maintaining positive working relationships with staff and administration.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Nebraska driver's license
• 3 4 years of construction labor experience preferred
• Experience in rough and finished carpentry, concrete forming and finishing and general building maintenance.
• Masonry experience, including the ability to plan and construct small brick and concrete block projects is preferred.
• Ability to operate construction and maintenance equipment.
• Welding experience with arc, MIG and oxy-acetylene equipment is desirable.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and cooperate effectively with team members.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and around typical construction and maintenance hazards.
• Strong communication skills, reliability and a commitment to workplace safety and professionalism.

This position involves both indoor and outdoor work including exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, dust and occasional inclement weather. Duties may involve working around hot surfaces, steam, fuels, solvents, electrical current and water pressure. Flexibility to respond to occasional after‑hours emergencies is required.
