Our client, a leading general contractor specializing in large-scale commercial projects, is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support financial operations and ensure accurate, timely project reporting. This position plays a key role in coordinating billing, cost tracking, and project closeout activities while maintaining strong relationships with project managers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare and reconcile monthly owner billings in alignment with contract terms and project milestones.
- Review contracts to identify billing requirements and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
- Analyze and process job-related costs in accordance with internal control policies.
- Partner with project managers to coordinate billing, track job costs, and identify unbilled or late-billed items.
- Manage subcontractor payments and lien waivers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Support job closeout, including final reconciliations, accruals, and profit/loss analysis.
- Monitor project cash flow and assist with forecasting as needed.
- Compile certified payroll reports and maintain subcontractor insurance compliance documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.
- Strong understanding of contract billing, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP or construction management software (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
