Field Premium Auditor – Encova Insurance
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Salary: $49,225 – $78,759 annually plus bonus and benefits
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary: The Field Premium Auditor performs professional auditing duties involving remote or on-site examination of accounting systems, accounts, journals, invoices, and financial records of businesses and corporations to determine the proper reporting and payment of premiums. The role requires traveling within an assigned territory as needed.
Location & ResidencyEncova requires associates to reside and work within specific U.S. states. Current eligible states include:
Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin.
- Conduct audits primarily remote or on-site examinations of an employer’s accounting records to verify and record classification information and to ensure premium payments are correct and in compliance with applicable law.
- Prepare audit worksheets to support audit adjustments and recommendations, and document audit trail.
- Develop and determine premium basis, earned premium, and classification in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations.
- Effectively communicate audit results to internal and external customers regarding classification/payroll variances.
- Ensure quality of audit through proper risk classification and exposure basis identification.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
- Use Power Suite, Guidewire and related internal systems as required to perform duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Accounting emphasis preferred); accounting, auditing, or commercial insurance experience may substitute for a degree.
- Insurance experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting records.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, especially Excel.
- Ability to navigate and effectively use accounting, auditing or insurance systems.
- Ability to advise policyholders on providing necessary records using NCCI, ISO, and PCRB classifications and rules.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills – ability to prioritize and complete assigned work.
- Ability to work independently.
- Active listening and solution‑focused mindset.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
