Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant plays a vital operational role within the accounting function, responsible for executing and supporting key accounting processes that impact the company’s financial position and reputation. This position combines strong technical accounting expertise, curiosity, and daily execution across the accounting function. The Senior Accountant ensures that accounting workflows are timely, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations, while promoting operational efficiency and working cross-functionally with the broader accounting team, HR, property management, and leadership.

They ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper classification of financial data throughout the close cycle to support informed decision-making. In addition, the Senior Accountant serves as a first line of defense in identifying and resolving issues or risks before they impact financial accuracy or business operations.

• Prepare monthly financial statements and detailed balance sheet reconciliations for assigned campground properties, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to the close calendar.
• Perform revenue recognition for campground properties using source systems (Campspot, New Book), including receivables tracking and related journal entries, in collaboration with campground operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation to support all assigned reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist in the preparation and recording of monthly and annual sales tax and Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) filings, including related journal entries.
• Collaborate with Accounting Managers to support budget-to-actual analysis, financial package assembly, and financial reporting during close cycles.
• Demonstrate professional presence and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal teams, campground operations teams, and external partners.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives through accurate execution of recurring tasks and identification of efficiency opportunities within assigned areas.
• Actively participate in a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and process documentation across the accounting function.
• Adhere to all company accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Model the company’s values consistently in daily work and all professional interactions.

Senior Accountants are expected to have (or develop) proficiency in:
App Folio, Yardi, and Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel. They may also use role‑specific platforms such as Campspot, New Book, Juniper, or similar systems.

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager or VP of Accounting.
