Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a team in Columbus, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is well suited for an entry-level candidate or an early-career individual who wants to build a strong foundation in accounts payable while receiving mentorship and hands-on training. The role focuses on high-volume invoice handling, accurate general ledger coding, and responsive communication with vendors in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process a large monthly volume of invoices with close attention to accuracy, timeliness, and established payment procedures.

- Assign correct general ledger codes to invoices and verify supporting details before entry and approval.

- Transfer invoice and payment information from Excel into Quick Books Online while maintaining clean and organized records.

- Support regular check run activities and help ensure vendor payments are completed according to schedule.

- Serve as a primary point of contact for designated vendors, addressing questions and resolving payment-related issues professionally.

- Build positive working relationships with external partners by providing prompt, courteous, and solution-oriented service.

- Use basic Excel formulas to organize, review, and reconcile payable data for daily processing needs.

- Assist with manual accounts payable workflows and contribute to process accuracy across routine transactions. Requirements - Some experience in accounts payable, invoice processing, or a related accounting support function, or a recent college background in a relevant field.

- Ability to code invoices accurately to the general ledger with strong attention to detail.

- Familiarity with accounts payable tasks such as invoice entry, payment support, and check run preparation.

- Working knowledge of Excel, including basic formulas used for sorting, tracking, or validating data.

- Exposure to Quick Books Online or the ability to learn accounting software quickly.

- Strong customer service and communication skills for effective vendor interaction.

- Comfortable managing repetitive, high-volume work while staying organized and meeting deadlines.
