Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a growing team in Columbus, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is well suited for an entry-level candidate or an early-career individual who wants to build a strong foundation in accounts payable while receiving mentorship and hands-on training. The role focuses on high-volume invoice processing, general ledger coding, vendor communication, and supporting accurate financial records in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process a large monthly volume of invoices with close attention to accuracy, timeliness, and documentation standards.

- Assign invoice charges to the appropriate general ledger accounts and verify supporting details before entry.

- Transfer invoice data from Excel into Quick Books Online while maintaining organized and reliable records.

- Manage check run support activities and help ensure vendor payments are prepared according to schedule.

- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned vendors, responding to questions and resolving payment-related concerns effectively.

- Maintain positive vendor relationships through consistent communication and strong customer service.

- Use Excel to review data, apply basic formulas, and support invoice tracking and reconciliation tasks.

- Assist with manual accounts payable workflows and contribute to process accuracy across day-to-day operations. Requirements - Experience or academic exposure related to accounts payable, invoice processing, or accounting support work.

- Ability to code invoices correctly and understand the basics of general ledger structure.

- Familiarity with check runs and standard accounts payable payment procedures.

- Basic working knowledge of Excel, including simple formulas and spreadsheet organization.

- Comfort working with accounting systems such as Quick Books Online or the ability to learn new tools quickly.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide attentive service to vendors and internal contacts.

- High level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through in a high-volume processing environment.
