- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Chair of Neuroscience, anticipating professional needs related to responsibilities.
- Perform a variety of complex and confidential administrative duties on behalf of the Department Chair.
- Act as first point of contact for all inquiries to the department's office.
- Research, collect, and summarize data and information requested by division, department, and OSU Medical Center leadership to aid decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Convey directives and information from leadership, take, type, and transcribe meeting minutes.
- Proactively manage the Chair's calendar and schedule meetings.
- Arrange complex travel plans and itineraries; compile documents for travel‑related meetings and process required forms.
- Prepare travel orders using the travel system and financial requests using Workday.
- Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements.
- Provide support for professional societies (national, regional, local).
- Assist with faculty promotion through the Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (AP&T) process.
- Assist division administrator with various administrative functions.
- Assist with faculty recruitment and fellowship programming needs, including recruitment.
- Assist Department Administrator and Neuroscience Faculty in managing daily operations of the Department of Neuroscience.
- Assist with fiscal and human resource activities.
- Coordinate special projects, events, and reports.
- Maintain department website.
- Participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures, with shared responsibility for implementation and compliance.
- Serve as safety representative, travel coordinator, and equipment coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
- 1 year of relevant experience required; 2‑4 years preferred.
- Six months experience (600 hours coursework or training) in customer service or communications, including researching, analyzing & interpreting information.
- Three months experience (300 hours coursework) in budgeting.
- Six months experience (600 hours training) in operation of spreadsheet, publication, or presentation software and related computer equipment.
- Experience in an administrative support capacity, including scheduling appointments, is desired.
- Requires successful completion of a background check.
- Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical including a drug screen.
