Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor for a Data Center Construction project. The role requires a strong blend of cost management, quantity surveying, and project delivery skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the client on strategies, manage pre‑qualification of vendors, assess proposals, bids, and bid levelling documents, make final recommendations, attend and chair bid interviews, and manage the appointment process.
  • Manage estimating services for the full project: develop project estimates (construction, fees, direct work and other costs), review estimates prepared by junior team members, present estimates and value‑engineering recommendations to the client, and benchmark data from other projects.
  • Manage cost reporting: establish reporting schedule, review and present cost reports and forecasts, review project budget and spend forecast with the client, maintain a commercial risk register, and host periodic meetings with the project team and vendors.
  • Manage cost control: review payment application assessments, liaise with project managers to recommend contractor entitlements, review change‑order requests from vendors, recommend to the client, and use dispute prevention/management/resolution procedures for payment requisitions, change orders and contractual disputes.
  • Manage and monitor the invoicing process.
  • Benchmark performance against other successful commissions.
  • Manage all facets of the final accounting process and post‑contract audits and account close‑outs.
  • Hold post‑contract reviews with the client to establish a lessons‑learned document and apply lessons to create a training manual.
  • Develop procedures governing handover of the project.
  • Perform all duties using/preparing Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take‑off Software.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or a related construction field.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years of relevant experience in a cost management role in the construction industry.
  • RICS accredited or working towards accreditation is valuable.
  • Experience supporting cost management on medium or large‑sized construction projects.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.
