The General Superintendent oversees all field operations across multiple projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the company's quality standards. This role provides leadership to project superintendents, coordinates with project managers, and serves as the primary authority on site logistics, field staffing, construction methods, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Oversight
  • Provide overall supervision and direction to all project superintendents and field personnel.
  • Ensure projects follow company standards, plans, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Resolve complex field issues and provide technical guidance on construction methods and sequencing.
Project Planning & Coordination
  • Collaborate with project management teams on scheduling, manpower planning, material procurement, and project phasing.
  • Lead pre-construction planning and develop site logistics plans.
  • Identify potential schedule risks and implement corrective actions proactively.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures on all job sites.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Review incident reports and lead corrective action planning.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship through regular inspections and superintendent coaching.
  • Implement quality control processes and coordinate with QA/QC teams when applicable.
Staff Development & Management
  • Mentor, evaluate, and develop field staff, including superintendents, foremen, and craft personnel.
  • Participate in hiring decisions and workforce planning.
  • Provide ongoing training and performance feedback.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Monitor labor productivity and jobsite efficiency.
  • Assist project teams in tracking field-related costs and managing subcontractor performance.
  • Approve timesheets, equipment use, and change order recommendations.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide accurate progress updates.
