Miles McClellan has opportunities for experienced construction Superintendents to join our team. This role will supervise the total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Our Superintendents are a critical part of the construction team interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, and other project partners to execute the job to completion.
The project superintendent works closely with the operations team throughout the project lifecycle and communicates project updates, safety and scheduling details for the promotion of the project interests.
- Responsible for the quality, safety, and on time completion of the contracted work.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.)
- Coordinate and supervise all trades and/or other contractors as required by the contract throughout the project.
- Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretations of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment etc. as required.
- Perform manpower projections for Miles-McClellan labor required on the project.
- Coordinate and schedule material and equipment deliveries.
- Coordinate the use of company owned or rented tools and equipment. Optimize use of tools and equipment to eliminate unnecessary rental costs.
- Serve as chief safety officer on the project. Responsible for overall safety of the project and hold weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings.
- Fill out daily construction reports and turn originals into the office weekly (keep file copies on site).
- Along with the project engineer, schedule pre-construction meetings for all major trades.
- Keep track of all extra work done on a time and material basis and on unit price basis.
- Order miscellaneous materials, tools, equipment, rentals, etc.
- Record and cost code all M-M labor on project daily and turn in to accounting weekly.
- Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
- Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc.
- Document all violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective action as required.
- Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
- Minimum of five years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of construction safety and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.
- OSHA 30 hour certification preferred.
- Ability to work with various technology for execution of project related responsibilities (ex. Procore, Bluebeam, Project, Outlook, etc.).
- Physically, workers must be able to:
Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see well (naturally or with correction).
