Dentistry | General Practice Residency The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant (DA) to join its General Practice Residency (GPR) unit in the Restorative and Prosthetic Division. The GPR provides excellent, comprehensive treatment and offers general dentistry at the postdoctoral level including hospital
-based dentistry, as well as treatment of medically compromised and special needs patients. The GPR faculty members are leaders in their profession, and you will work with respected clinicians and educators as well as our GPR residents to provide the best care to our patients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for direct chair-side dental assisting for all residents and faculty in the GPR clinic in the College of Dentistry, including assisting with special needs patients, and patients seen under general anesthesia and moderate sedation; dispenses, receives, processes and purchases instruments, equipment and supplies used in the delivery of treatment; provides oral hygiene instructions, ensures efficient operation during faculty and/or clinical sessions;

organizes records system; and exposes and develops radiographs.

** Monday 8:30am-4:30pm, Tuesday – Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm
** Pay Range:
** The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $21.35 - $27.88, commensurate with experience and education.
** Required Screenings:
** This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.

* Physical Requirements:

** A dental assistant needs to have use of both hands, as well as dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate the rheostat for hand pieces or other dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures.

The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; use of sharp instruments; and latex.

High School Diploma. Minimum 2 years’ experience sitting chairside as Dental Assistant. Current CPR/BLS certification and radiographer license required at all times throughout employment.  Desired:
Experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments and procedures, especially those involving oral surgical procedures; experience in an educational and/or hospital setting, experience with electronic health record, computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email is desired.## Additional Information:##
