Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Endocrinologist to join the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in the Department of Internal Medicine is actively recruiting an endocrinologist with interest or expertise in pituitary/adrenal disorders to join our practice. This is an academic position on the clinical track that emphasizes patient care for patients with pituitary and adrenal disorders; instructs medical students, residents, and fellows; and includes other scholarly activities such as quality improvement and clinical research.

The division is highly recognized for clinical and research programs in adrenal and pituitary disorders; thyroid cancer, type 1 and type 2 diabetes; metabolic bone disease, obesity, women's health, and other hormone conditions.

Division Overview

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism has been recognized for excellence by U.S. News & World Report on an ongoing basis. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and discoveries to improve care through laboratory and clinical research. The division has a history of developing novel interdisciplinary programs with strengths in adrenal and pituitary disorders;

thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer; type 1 and type 2 diabetes and obesity; and metabolic bone disease. The Division is supported by The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Wexner Medical Center, and The James Cancer Hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is an academic position on the clinical track that emphasizes patient care for endocrine patients with a focus on adrenal and pituitary disorders; instructors medical students, residents, and fellows; and engages in basic or clinical research. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, e-consults and inpatient consults.

Requirements

Candidates must have an MD or DO;
Board Certification or Board Eligible in Endocrinology; qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.

Faculty Defined
  • Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) – Persons with titles such as assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, and professor-clinical. These faculty have earned an MD, DO, PhD, or other terminal degree. Clinical faculty are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed; their primary career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching and/or research.
  • Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) – Persons with titles such as assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty have a relevant terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, etc.). Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD/DO may also be involved in clinical care.
  • Research Faculty (regardless of rank) – Persons with titles such as research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty have a PhD or other terminal degree. Research faculty are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
