Physician – Infectious Diseases – General Infectious Diseases (Open Rank/Track Faculty)
Position OverviewThe Division of Infectious Diseases is actively recruiting an Infectious Diseases specialist with interest and/or expertise in general HIV. The position will provide inpatient infectious diseases consultative services within the Medical Center on Main Campus and OSU East Hospital. The physician will also maintain an ambulatory longitudinal care clinic and may provide coverage in solid organ transplant, Telehealth, and community hospital consultation.
The division operates a robust OPAT program and participates in training fellows, house staff, medical students, and allied providers. The physician will engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research and quality improvement projects. Desired interests include general infectious diseases, HIV, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and hospital epidemiology.
The Division of Infectious Diseases is led by Division Director Susan L. Koletar, MD and comprises 26 faculty and 4 advanced practice providers. The division performed approximately 8,800 consults last year and operates five consult services. It runs a two‑year ACGME accredited Fellowship Program and supports research through the Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit, NIH‑designated for HIV/AIDS treatment research.
Duties and Responsibilities- Academic clinical track emphasizing diagnosis and treatment of general infectious diseases
- Respond to consultation requests; determine, prescribe, and implement treatment plans and required medications
- Provide instructional training to fellows, house staff, medical students, and ancillary staff
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities
- MD, DO, or equivalent
- Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio
- Exceptional critical‑thinking skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
