Position Overview
The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Infectious Diseases physician to join the Division of Infectious Diseases/Department of Internal Medicine. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Division OverviewThe Division of Infectious Diseases is actively recruiting an Infectious Diseases specialist with interest and/or expertise in the immunocompromised host. This position will provide infectious diseases consultative services in the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, a NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. Additional service opportunities are available on our dedicated solid organ transplant service. The physician will also be expected to maintain an ambulatory longitudinal care clinic.
The division has established and maintains a robust Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) program, seeing approximately 2,200 patients last year. Participates in the training of Infectious Diseases fellows, house staff and medical students, as well as advance practice providers and other allied medical professionals. The physician will be expected to participate in scholarly activities (clinical research, quality improvement) and relevant committee work.
Interest/expertise in the management of immunocompromised patients, particularly those with hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is expected. Clinical research experience with this population is preferred.
- This is an academic position on the clinical track that emphasizes diagnosis and treatment of infections in the immunocompromised host
- Responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or required medications
- Provides instructional training to fellows, house staff, medical students and ancillary staff
- Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities
- MD, DO or equivalent
- Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases
- Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communications skills

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms.
Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study.
Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care. Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study.
Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
