Job Description Summary

The Physician Assistant works in collaboration with the physician in the hospital-based inpatient setting working with critically ill and injured patients serving as a Surgery First Assist in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery. Performs very invasive procedures and requires high level of independent clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Works under direction and in consultation/collaboration with physician.
  • Assesses and evaluates patients, H&Ps, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, etc.
  • Assists in diagnostic and invasive procedures.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative care, writes orders, discharges, etc.
  • Promotes quality outcomes and initiatives.
  • In the hospital the PA needs a Supervisory Physician Agreement submitted to the Medical Board of Ohio yearly review w Practice to submit to State Medical Boar d .
  • Practices within applicable state laws, appropriate boards, and in accordance with his/her supervisory agreement and delineation of privileges.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Job Description
  • Must have a Physician Assistant Certificate to Practice in Ohio and maintain this Certification from the State Medical Board of Ohio.
  • Must have and maintain a current Certification from a national certifying body (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) and maintain this Certification .
  • Must have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
  • Must have CPR Certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
