About the Role
Columbus Oncology and Hematology is seeking a PA or NP to join its team of advanced practice provider (APP) inpatient hospital rounding service. The APP hired for this position will join a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, and specialists managing a population of Oncology and Hematology patients within the Columbus, OH and surrounding areas.
Following an onboarding process, newly hired APPs will build toward the management of ~10 patients representing a broad spectrum of acute and chronic disease states in a practice model that emphasizes independence with the support and collaboration of physician colleagues. Further the APP will round as a consult service for hematology and oncology patients admitted at any of our covered hospital.
Typically, the inpatient APP will round at a consistent hospital with potential for cross-coverage needs on occasion.

Key Responsibilities- Rounding on a cohort of ~10 patients in an independent APP-forward practice model backed up by physician support.
- Rounding as a consultant on hematology/oncology patients, coordinating discharges.
- Complete high-level assessment and symptom management for patients actively undergoing cancer treatment.
- Performing and accurately documenting history & physical exams, analysis of clinical data, and assessments and plans in the electronic medical record to form well-developed differential diagnoses.
- Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams including inpatient hospitalists, Surg Onc, Rad Onc, Neuro Onc, Interventional Radiology, Pulmonary medicine, Gastroenterology, etc.
- Effectively communicating plans of care with patients, families, nurses, other stakeholders, and, at times, navigating complex psychosocial dynamics.
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, therapists, and physician and advanced practice leadership.
- The ability to professionally lead other members of the care team in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated learning, engagement in process improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
