Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and original research projects in Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Behavioral Health.
• Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to obtain funding; secure and maintain NIH RO1 or equivalent funding.
• Write and publish research in peer-reviewed journals; present research at national and international conferences; develop national and international scholarly reputation.
• Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees.
• Participate in division, department, college, and university committees and initiatives.

Qualifications and Faculty Definition

Faculty Defined

• Clinical faculty (titles: assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, professor-clinical) with MD, PhD, or terminal degree. Not eligible for tenure; appointed for three to five-year terms. May include teaching, clinical care, and/or research.
• Tenure-Track faculty (titles: assistant professor, associate professor, professor) eligible for tenure or already tenured. Primary focus on research, service, and teaching. MD or MD/PhD holders may also be involved in clinical care.
• Research Faculty (titles: research assistant professor, research associate professor, research professor) with PhD or other terminal degree. Not eligible for tenure; appointed for one to five years; primary focus on research.
