Job Title:
Research Faculty - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain (Open Rank/Track Faculty)## Department:

** Tenure faculty (regardless of rank)** - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus;
obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.## Additional Information:
** Position Overview
** The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center are seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The focus is on research in acute and chronic pain mechanisms and therapeutic management., with an emphasis on leading a cutting-edge research program that complements existing departmental activities. Successful candidates will have already established a highly competitive independent research program or will have otherwise demonstrated the clear potential to do so.
The successful candidate will engage with a collaborative research community and contribute to the academic life of the department and the institution through mentoring/teaching and service commensurate with the level of appointment. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
** Department Overview
** Ohio State's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is nationally known for its comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation education and training. The Department has been a leader in caring for those with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke for more than 50 years. US News & World Report has ranked the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as one of the top programs in America.
This year, the Department is ranked #1 in Columbus and #33 in the nation for delivering exceptional patient care. Additionally, the PM&R residency program is ranked 24th through Doximity Residency Navigator. The Department also provides the medical leadership and patient care of Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, a 60-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital located on the main campus of OSUWMC.PM&R is composed of 28 physicians, 6 research faculty, 11 rehabilitation psychology faculty, 21 residents, 5 fellows and 13 research support staff and is part of Ohio State’s multidisciplinary Neurological Institute, a network of specialists collaborating in research, education and training.
In addition, the PM&R Department is a leader in clinical applications of rehabilitative care and neurorecovery for diverse neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, stroke, and brain and spine injury. With $4.5 million in research funding and ranked in the top five for research funding amongst all PM&R departments in the nation by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, our researchers are transforming the outcomes and care of patients with neurologic and musculoskeletal injuries.
** Duties and Responsibilities
*** Lead and maintain a cutting-edge, extramurally funded research program in acute and chronic pain mechanisms and therapeutic management.
* Collaborate with faculty across OSU, including but not limited to the College of Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, and Public Health.
* Mentor and instruct students and postdoctoral fellows.
* Contribute to university and community service.
* Engage in teaching responsibilities as needed by the department.
** Requirements
* ** PhD, MD or equivalent higher degree.
* Demonstrated record of scholarly excellence with influential research publications.
* Record or promise of substantial extramural funding.
