Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a research faculty to join the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Duties And Responsibilities

This is an academic position on the research track. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of endocrinology including, but not limited to endocrinology disorders, diabetes, metabolism, endocrine cancer, reproductive endocrinology, lipids, osteoporosis, and neuroendocrine.
  • Develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
  • Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation.
  • Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in Department, College and University committees and initiatives.
Requirements
  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred.
  • Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01 or Career Development Award).
  • Academic experience a plus.
  • Qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training experience.

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism has been recognized for excellence by U.S. News and World Report on an ongoing basis. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and discoveries to improve the care of patients with endocrine and endocrine-related disorders through laboratory and clinical research. Our division has a long history of developing novel interdisciplinary programs and has demonstrated outstanding performance in areas such as adrenal and pituitary disorders;

thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and obesity, and metabolic bone disease. The Division is supported by The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Wexner Medical Center, and The James Cancer Hospital.

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms.

Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor.
