Job Summary

Under limited supervision, Test Proctor responsibilities include welcoming and checking in test candidates, verifying , administering a variety of exams, monitoring candidates during testing, and maintaining a secure and courteous testing environment.

Shift Schedule
  • Morning Shift: Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–2:00 PM;
    Friday 8:00 AM–12:30 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday–Thursday 2:00 PM–8:00 PM;
    Friday 12:30 PM–5:00 PM

During finals, the facility closes at 9:00 PM; during inter‑semester periods it closes at 5:00 PM.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Excellent organizational, detail‑oriented, and reliable skills
  • Communicate effectively, both oral and written, with students, faculty, and staff
  • Establish rapport with a diverse range of people
  • Follow written and oral instructions effectively
  • Anticipate needs and manage time wisely
  • Manage conflict calmly and effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general office methods
  • Familiar with College policies, procedures, and information systems
  • Greet testers and verify
  • Provide test instructions, seat candidates, and start exams
  • Proctor tests, including monitoring candidates via video surveillance
  • Maintain cleanliness of testing areas
  • Handle phone calls and office equipment
  • Protect confidential information and operate electronic mail systems
  • Organize and file test materials in paper and electronic formats
  • Look up student information in the College Information System (Banner)
  • Enforce policies and procedures firmly and courteously
  • Provide accurate, consistent, and clear information
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all visitors
  • Assist departmental personnel with other duties as needed
  • Work effectively with all groups, including those with disabilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 Year of College experience
  • 1 Year office, reception, or customer service experience
  • Experience working with confidential information
  • Familiarity with SLCC is a plus
