Position Overview
Lecturer in Veterinary Preventive Medicine
The Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Lecturer in Veterinary Preventive Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to instruction and curriculum development within the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, primarily within years 1–3 of the professional DVM curriculum. Topics may include Animal Welfare, Disease Prevention and Control, Biosecurity, Infection Control, and Food Protection.
PerformanceObjectives
- Develop and deliver engaging, evidence-based instructional content centering on Veterinary Preventive Medicine (lectures, case studies, assessments, hands‑on learning, and digital resources).
- Mentor and support veterinary students’ professional growth and development.
- Coordinate and collect assessment data to support student learning and guide continuous improvement of pre‑clinical courses.
- Collaborate with VPM faculty and other contributors across the DVM curriculum.
Required:
- DVM or advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MS, PhD) in a related preventive medicine discipline.
- Demonstrated strong interest and professional experience in Veterinary Preventive Medicine, including private or public practice.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
Desired:
- Prior teaching experience within DVM curricula.
- Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
- Experience with online learning platforms and educational technology.
- Experience with student assessment.
