Senior Academic Advisor## Department:

Arts and Sciences | Student Affairs Advising The Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences fosters student success by defining and implementing proactive strategies that help students stay on track to fulfill their educational goals. The individual in this role advises students in one or more STEM fields in the division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS) on university policy and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters;

consistently directs students to appropriate resources; identifies new resources and collaborations for resolving student cases, providing academic advising and resources to cultivate an enhanced advising experience to increase student persistence and ensure holistic advising. This advisor collaborates with college leaders to develop training and workshops for STEM advisors across the college to proactively engage students and bolster a culture of student success leveraging college data and evidence-based practices and coordinates activities with the college central advising office to provide support for all advisors in STEM departments.

This Senior Advisor is a mentor for new advisors and provides leadership in the college advising community, works with STEM course instructors to identify student needs and available resources to address those needs, and provides additional support to the college and works on special projects as assigned. This Senior Advisor serves as liaison with the central advising office in the college, the NMS divisional dean, the Associate Dean for Workplace Culture and Student Success, and the director of the AMGEN STEM Learning Center to advance our student success efforts.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree required. Two years of relevant experience. Deep understanding of STEM academic programs, specialty areas, and academic and university policies. Demonstrates adaptive relational skills. Demonstrates superior communication skills; able to provide detail, depth, and context. Able to recommend policy, practice, and program changes to unit and/or university leadership. Understands and follows FERPA guidelines; trains, interprets, and explains FERPA guidelines to colleagues and stakeholders.

Able to support/mentor other advisors on complex topics. Demonstrates sophisticated cultural competence across multiple cultures and/or identities. Able to identify and predict ramifications of current and proposed policies and practices on the student population and their programs.

Desired:
Four years of relevant experience. Utilizes and integrates historical knowledge of the academic advising profession.## Additional Information:

The College hosts 81 majors. The individual in this role advises students in one or more STEM fields in the division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS).The pay range for this job profile is $60,000 - $65,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.##
