Compensation & ScheduleStarting hourly pay of $22.96/hr, with increased pay up to $24.88/hr over 24 months. Full-time. Varies (incl nights/weekends). Union: OCSEA.
Job OverviewTemporary grant‑funded position (max 24 months). Responsible for planning, conducting and scheduling interpretive programs focusing on Scenic Rivers Stream Quality Monitoring (SQM) Program and Education Trailer at public/private sites for K‑12 schools, community groups, and special events.
Responsibilities- Primary point person for interpretive programs centered around Scenic Rivers Program and SQM Program.
- Develop interpretive materials (display, videos, signage, fact sheets, handouts, brochures) tied to Ohio K‑12 standards focusing on fourth grade.
- Administer school field trip grant program (advertising grant, create criteria & application forms, assist teachers, track & compliance).
- Complete reporting as required by grant (expenditure, number of programs, grants awarded, outreach participation for Division records & submission to Ohio EPA).
- Operate, maintain, and maneuver pickup truck pulling 20‑foot box trailer containing interpretive displays to schools and other public events.
- 18 months training or 18 months experience in preparing and/or presenting educational materials concerning wildlife and plants.
- 1 course or 3 months experience in public relations.
- Valid driver’s license.
- OR completion of associate degree core coursework in natural sciences (e.g., biology, botany, zoology) + valid driver’s license.
- OR 12 months experience as Naturalist Aide (22540) + valid driver’s license.
- OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
