Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian and Central European Studies
Position for the 2026‑2027 academic year offered by the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University. Salary $55,000 plus benefits. Load is 3 courses per semester with a one‑course release for service. Expectation to serve as a member of the undergraduate advisory committee, advise 1‑2 language or club activities, and design and offer one undergraduate career‑readiness workshop each semester.
PerformanceObjectives
- Teach a broad range of courses including culture, film, and literature classes, and potentially language courses, in person and possibly in an asynchronous online format.
- Maintain evidence of successful teaching at a U.S.‑based institution.
- Serve as a member of the undergraduate advisory committee and advise 1‑2 language or club activities.
- Design and offer one undergraduate career‑readiness workshop each semester.
- Engage in research;
Digital Humanities expertise desired.
- Required:
PhD in hand by August 2026; evidence of successful teaching at a U.S.‑based institution; proficiency in Russian (required) and a second language (Czech or Ukrainian). - Desired:
Second language can be Czech or Ukrainian; expertise in Digital Humanities.
The position is potentially renewable for 1‑2 years depending on performance and departmental needs.
