Intervention Specialist

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Intervention Specialist at South Columbus Preparatory Academy‑Southfield in Columbus, Ohio. The role supports the educational, behavioral, and social needs of students, especially those eligible for special education and related services.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to interpret students’ abilities and disabilities, assist with intervention strategies, modify general education curriculum as needed, and help students with regular class assignments.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Work to meet all student achievement and cultural goals, including state specific targets.
• Utilize research‑based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non‑instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Current state license holder.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in a full‑room inclusion or co‑teaching/resource room model.
• Comfortable working in a growth‑focused coaching environment.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• Eligibility to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Preferred experience in a multicultural setting.

• Salary range: $44,000–$55,000, based on experience and qualifications.
