OverviewProviding guidance and leadership for Agriculture and Natural Resources programming targeted to local and area needs. Utilizing formal and informal community assessment methods to identify educational needs and opportunities. Designing, implementing, and teaching educational programming based on local community needs to adults and youth. Convening and facilitating community coalitions. Developing promotional material, leading committees and volunteers, and establishing community partnerships. Communicating with clients through newsletters, county blog, Facebook, and other methods.
Maintaining high visibility to promote understanding of agriculture and natural resource issues. Evaluating programs, using existing evaluation instruments, and supporting program quality. Participating in county budget discussions and securing external funds. Serving on county, multi-county, and state Extension teams to advance the mission of Ohio State University Extension.
- Guide and lead Agriculture and Natural Resources programming to meet local community needs.
- Conduct community assessments to determine educational priorities.
- Design, implement, and deliver educational programming for adults and youth.
- Convene and facilitate community coalitions focused on agriculture and natural resources.
- Develop promotional materials and lead volunteer committees.
- Communicate with the community via newsletters, blogs, and social media.
- Evaluate educational programs using existing instruments and assess teaching effectiveness.
- Participate in budget discussions and secure external funding.
- Collaborate with Extension teams at the county, multi-county, and state levels.
- Required bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Masters degree or 11+ years of direct or related work experience for higher-level positions.
- Experience in community outreach, program development, and partnership building.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Extension Educator 1: $42,100 - $55,000
- Extension Educator 2: $47,700 - $62,300
- Extension Educator 3: $55,700 - $72,700
