Job Description

Summary:

This position will work directly with Women's Health Leadership team to provide designated clinical unit(s) with educational support, including needs assessments, execute on project work within the care site in the areas of process improvement, quality improvement, evidence-based practice and communication.

The NPD practitioner demonstrates expertise in the identified roles: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions. Responsibilities include onboarding/orientation, competency management, education, professional role development, collaborative partnerships, research, evidenced based practice, and quality improvement. Assists in the design of education based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and Ohio Health policy.

This role is 24 hours in Clinical Education and is meant to be paired with a 12-hour Staff RN role in the new Women's Health Pavilion Medical Surgical Unit, SSU, specialty post-partum population.

An ideal candidate for this role has ICU or intermediate experience

TOTAL weekly FTE for this role: 36 hours

Responsibilities And Duties:

95% of the time OVERVIEW
Develops individualized professional development plans that guide associates from initial competency to ongoing expertise, supporting lifelong learning and growth across the career continuum.
Collaborates with education, unit and campus leadership to identify educational opportunities related to regulatory the requirements Collaborates with unit, campus and system committees within the service line to individualize staff education needs resulting from: new equipment, processes, policies, procedures,
Uses Evidenced Based Assessment techniques or instruments to define potential opportunities (formal needs assessment, ADDIE).
Coordinates implementation of an educational plan, including activities and resources necessary to achieve desired outcomes
Creates and implements strategies for seamless transitions to practice and between practice settings
Interacts with new hire, preceptor and unit leadership team to enhance personal practice and enculturation to the organization

Competency management
Assesses knowledge, skill and practice gaps
Assess knowledge through methods and models of adult learning theory in coordination with Association of Nurse Professional Development and Ohio Health learner reference tools.
Performs Needs Assessment of skills, practice and professionalism through observation of practice, simulation, multi-faceted feedback from team members and leadership
Creates and conducts initial and ongoing assessment of learning and safe practice
Ensures use of evidence based clinical guidelines for validation of safe practice
Seeks outcomes data in collaboration with unit leadership and quality teams to support the measure of significance ineffective education interventions.
Adheres to requirements of regulatory and accrediting bodies
Collaborates and coordinates effectively with learners, colleagues and leaders; fosters a psychologically safe, positive learning environment and consistently models professional behavior.
Integrates principles from theories of adult learning behaviors
Utilizes needs assessment trends to develop educational activities that address practice gaps for identified target audiences, both licensed and non-licensed.
Facilitates education for learners to meet their professional development needs, clinical and non-clinical.
Participates in committees and councils, leads with inquiry.
Utilizes ADDIE model for cyclic professional development, hones in on evaluation of learning and need to adapt education to meet the learning objective.

Professional Role Development
Participates in educational activities related to the NPD practitioner specialty, hold accountability for both learner development and self-development.
Demonstrates initiative to find specialty-specific educational content online, in journals, through conferences, etc, shares resources and opportunities with colleagues and clinical teams.
