Civil Senior Designer

Matrix PDM Engineering is looking for a senior-level Civil Designer to produce design layouts and finished drawings for custom civil projects. The role involves field surveys, design sketches, engineering support, and detailed drawing checks to ensure accuracy and constructability. The successful candidate may also serve as a discipline lead, managing internal and external resources.

Essential Functions
  • Support the company’s safety and core values with high moral standards.
  • Represent the company with integrity, adhering to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Assist the Engineering Supervisor in meeting job requirements, coordinating jobs, and providing training.
  • Help drafters with questions during project execution.
  • Collaborate with team members and interact professionally at all levels.
  • Perform basic and complex layout work.
  • Create new drawings and review drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Convert between state plane coordinates and plant coordinates.
  • Correct drawings based on red marks and perform detailed dimensional and bill‑of‑material checks.
  • Check entire work for interferences and constructability.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of civil design and layout experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong drafting techniques and general math skills.
  • Familiarity with civil codes and standards for various projects.
  • Experience in industrial site development, storm drainage, water distribution, sanitary collection, road layout, site grading, and earthwork.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
