Senior Transit Engineer (BRT)
Join AECOM as a Senior Transit Engineer (BRT) based in Columbus, Ohio, reporting to the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group. The role may also be performed in Chicago, Indianapolis, or Minneapolis.

Job Description- Serve as a team lead, deputy project manager, or technical task leader on planning studies, preliminary design, and final design of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
- Perform engineering calculations, prepare drawings, and develop visual aids for BRT infrastructure.
- Prepare and review multimodal street designs and participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Develop construction cost estimates and estimate technical effort for projects.
- Perform quality control review of design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare technical specification sections and provide input to engineering budget and schedule development.
- Coordinate tasks, mentor entry‑level engineers, and work independently to complete primary design elements with minimal supervision.
- Maintain project schedule and budget commitments, ensuring engineering deliverables meet client expectations.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience in transportation design or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain one).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station, Power InRoads, or Power Geo Pak.
- Experience preparing engineering design reports and construction drawings for highway, roadway, transit, and/or rail projects.
- Collaboration with multi‑disciplinary design teams.
- Roadway, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and/or Light Rail Transit (LRT) design experience.
- Familiarity with local and national BRT/LRT standards and best practices.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Established relationships with transportation agency clients.
- Salary range: $ – $ per year, based on education, experience, and location.
