Role:
Structural Engineer
  • Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team from schematic design through the design development and contract document phases of a project.
  • Collaborate as part of a multi‑disciplinary team (architecture, MEP engineering, civil engineering, etc.) to lead the production of the structural deliverables for projects.
  • Analyze and design components of the superstructure for building projects.
  • Mentor and train structural interns and EITs within the department and across business groups.
  • Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate workload through the design phases in order to complete the documents on schedule.
  • Perform construction administration (CA) tasks such as submittal review, respond to requests for information (RFI’s) and other coordination tasks with contractors in the field during construction.
  • Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed‑upon changes into the project documents.
  • Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations.

Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering;
    Structural emphasis.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ structural engineering experience.
  • 7 years’ structural engineering experience.

Experience with design of Health Care and Higher Education projects is strongly encouraged.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng)).
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of the employee‑owned culture is a must.
