Essential Duties &Key Responsibilities
- Influence and motivate teams as a visible leader on construction project site while modeling Turner’s EH&S highest standards.
- Oversee EH&S on site, cultivate partnerships with project team to influence safety planning and decision making.
- Generate consistent in-person engagement with front‑line workers and provide coaching and mentoring to develop EH&S competencies.
- Promote a “one team” philosophy and collaborate with client, trade partners, and JV partners for required structure and processes.
- Align and enforce company and EH&S policies, project and client priorities, and strategies; reinforce consistency with portfolio projects.
- Serve as primary liaison with owner for EH&S matters in day‑to‑day construction activities.
- Establish project‑specific strategic and operational EH&S plan with KPIs, milestones, and PDCA improvement loops.
- Collaborate with BU EH&S leader and HR to recruit, onboard, develop, and succession‑plan EH&S staff; mentor and develop employees.
- Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury or property damage.
- Authorize work‑order changes and reallocate resources to safeguard production activities.
- Implement comprehensive workforce training and education at all project levels.
- Contribute to development and management of the project‑specific EH&S budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field and at least 13 years of construction safety experience or equivalent.
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification required or within 6 months of appointment.
- OSHA 30‑hour training completed and current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certification.
- Expert knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations.
- Extensive incident management and response experience.
- Cross‑functional knowledge of general construction operations.
- Ability to assess construction processes for safety exposures and lead corrective actions.
- Management experience with delegation, budget, and resource control.
- Supervisory skills; ability to mentor and develop teams.
- Commitment to excellence and passion for EH&S, with strong goal‑setting and persistence.
- Critical thinking, sound judgment, and complex problem‑solving abilities.
- Influential leader who champions and leads change.
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite, and EH&S applications.
- Travel required; reliable transportation access required.
