Injection Molding Tooling Engineer

This position will be resident expert in injection molding tooling primarily focusing on new model projects. Evaluating new parts for manufacturability. Leading tooling design efforts to implement cost effective and robust tools that will minimize downtime and waste. Setting standards for tooling utilizing current industry best practices. Driving tooling projects to complete on time and on budget. Position requires contact internally and externally with equipment / tooling suppliers, Yachiyo and Motherson design teams, external customers, and internal customers.

• Participation in the creation of mold specifications (reflecting on PPH) for new models, working with mold supplier and design/quality groups on development through validation of the parts.
• Good working knowledge of injection molding process, tooling, and equipment.
• Develop/setup parameters and PM procedures for new (and existing) tooling and adjusting throughout the life of the tool.
• Emergency response to problems with mass production molds, molding equipment, and molding process.
• Communicate progress/status of new tooling to team members, customers, and management.
• Report Preparation:
• Supply yearly budget for new model tooling to the department manager
• Support the new model development process for new tooling
• Complete new model projects on time and on budget.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with proven 5+ years of injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Tier 1 automotive
• Proven problem solving, decision making, situation analysis, multi-tasking and prioritization skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent documentation, hands‑on mentality and leadership skills
• Molding, machining, and tooling maintenance knowledge
• Cost justification and proposal.
• Project management
• Must be able to travel, international and domestic, occasionally with minimal notice
