Lead Traffic Engineering Manager
Columbus, OH or Cleveland, OH office.
Your Impact- Function as a Lead Traffic Engineer for projects in Ohio and other Midwest states, as needed.
- Provide technical analysis for a wide range of transportation infrastructure and land development projects.
- Perform technical review of Synchro, Trans Modeler, and other traffic engineering analysis software.
- Interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (civil, structural, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
- Perform a range of marketing and business development activities, including outreach and coordination with existing and potential clients, identifying and leading pursuits, developing technical proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.
- Work cooperatively with clients and existing staff to expand the traffic engineering team.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Collaborate with professionals, other engineers, planners, and DOT authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded road and transportation improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
- Remain current in latest traffic engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 7+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior traffic design experience.
- Engineer license required.
- Safety studies experience/skillset.
- Knowledge of traffic engineering tools, including Highway Capacity Manual/Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/Sim Traffic, Trans Modeler, and other equivalent modeling and analysis tools.
- Knowledge of traffic control device design, including developing plans, specifications and estimates for construction projects.
- Working knowledge of appropriate Federal Highway Administration, AASHTO, state DOT, and other relevant guidelines, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the AASHTO Green Book, and the NACTO Urban Street Design Guide.
- Experience with Micro Station and AutoCAD is desirable.
- Ability to establish partnerships with internal and external project management, client representatives, government agencies, and other organizations.
- Positive attitude and people skills that constitute a team player.
- Ability to manage staff to effectively deliver projects on deadlines, including managing multiple staff working on multiple projects.
- Ability to train and mentor younger staff in the profession of traffic engineering.
- Ability to market the skills of the traffic and transportation engineering practice.
- Ability to work in a corporate environment, communicating with a wide range of professional skill sets.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- PTOE Certification is desirable.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.

CompensationExpected Salary (Cleveland only): $103,500 - $176,000. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
