Position: Mechanical Engineering Technician - OCU - Technical - 3x12pm

DESCRIPTION

Builds, repairs and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Installs test article into test structure (test cell, table, rig, etc.). Performs tests in accordance with set test methods.

Performs testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology, consistently providing accurate and reliable test results.

Has an in-depth understanding of the function of the test equipment and the contribution of the equipment to the validity of the test results, as well as the functioning of the product under test.

Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness.

Implements test stand installations, troubleshooting and setups, and maintains laboratory equipment.

Provides support and recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates, and instrument specifications.

Performs other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform performance and reliability testing on multiple and single cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls.
  • Diagnose engines, components, systems, controls, and test cell problems and initiate appropriate resolutions.
  • Write computer programs to assist in analysis and data interpretation; configure engine test programs; interpret results, make necessary adjustments, document data and maintain electronic files.
  • Build, tear down, and inspect rigs, engines, and components.
  • Grade and measure components.
  • Create sketches for machining and fabricate necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings.
  • Install engines and instrumentation of engines and components in test cells and test rigs.
  • Use common tools such as Calterm, Asset, Cyflex, etc.
  • Design, document, and execute test plans; provide input during the creation of test plans; prepare test reports including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Understand and apply appropriate company and department rules and guidelines.
  • Work with and train apprentices and technicians; interface with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
  • Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Participate in the maintenance of quality procedures.
  • Lead and participate in improvement projects; develop and give presentations to customers and suppliers.
  • Knows and complies with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate confidentiality as required.
  • Participate in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required to get the job done.

  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance – Execute maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Data Quality – Identify, understand, and correct data flaws to support decision making.
  • Problem Solving – Solve problems and mentor others using systematic analysis.
