Senior Controls Engineer

We’re seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join a growing automation team in Columbus, OH. This role is perfect for a technically strong engineer who thrives on solving complex automation challenges, delivering turnkey control systems, and driving projects from concept through commissioning.

You’ll work across multi‑discipline automation initiatives that support manufacturing systems, robotic cells, and process control environments. The ideal candidate blends deep PLC/HMI experience with electrical design, robotics integration, and hands‑on commissioning.

• Lead controls design, programming, and implementation for industrial automation systems
• Develop PLC logic (Rockwell / Allen‑Bradley preferred) and HMI screens (Factory Talk, Proface, etc.)
• Create and review electrical schematics and panel layouts (AutoCAD / EPLAN)
• Integrate and support industrial robotics (FANUC, ABB, Motoman, Yaskawa) and vision systems
• Configure and support motion control, servo systems, and VFDs
• Perform onsite commissioning, debugging, and acceptance testing
• Ensure compliance with machine safety standards (NFPA 79, ISO 13849)
• Produce clear documentation, test plans, and controls deliverables
• Collaborate closely with project management, mechanical, and manufacturing teams

• 8+ years of controls engineering experience
• Experience with electrical design tools (AutoCAD / EPLAN)
• Familiar with industrial safety standards and functional safety concepts
• Comfortable with robot integration and field commissioning
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate with cross‑functional teams
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field preferred
