Construction Inspector - DOT Ohio

Columbus, OH (and Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, Toledo)
Full-Time
What You’ll Do- Perform field observation and documentation of contractor activities for compliance with contract requirements.
- Prepare thorough Daily Work Reports (DWRs) detailing work status, item postings, materials associations, and jobsite conditions.
- Complete and submit required calculations, sketches, and forms per ODOT specifications.
- Verify construction adherence to contract requirements and communicate non‑compliance issues to senior staff.
- Assist with requests for information and serve as liaison between contractors and senior technicians/engineers.
- Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, technicians, survey staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure proper execution of project designs.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, concrete technology, or equivalent experience.
- Completion of ODOT Certified Technician program or a Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
- 2+ years of related experience in construction inspection.
- Familiarity with ODOT construction specifications and field experience.
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction inspection/testing.
- Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Technologist, NICET highway construction inspection, ICC Special Inspections, CWI/NDT.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Plan Grid, and digital inspection platforms (AASHTOWare, Appia).
- Experience with survey equipment including GPS or Arrow Systems is a plus.
