Reliability Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Management
    :
    • Schedule Management – activity definition, sequencing, resource estimating, duration estimating, schedule development, and schedule control activities.
    • Scope Management – project initiation, scope planning, scope definition, and scope change control activities.
    • Cost Management – resource planning, cost estimating, budgeting and cost control activities, and appropriate revenue recognition.
    • Risk Management – risk management planning, risk identification, risk quantitative and qualitative analysis, response planning, monitoring, and control activities.
    • Quality Management – quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
    • Communications Management – communications planning, information distribution, progress and performance reporting, and stakeholder communications.
    • Client Management – manage client interaction and expectations for multiple or large‑scale projects; anticipate client needs and propose alternative business solutions to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Reliability Engineering
    :
    • Lead team efforts in the development of risk‑based asset maintenance plans that include added preventative maintenance tasks, predictive, condition‑based and remote monitoring opportunities to mitigate reliability risks.
    • Develop, facilitate and lead reliability training programs for internal and external customers, as well as PPM training programs for machine operators and maintenance personnel.
    • Utilize standard engineering practices (FMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Value Stream Mapping, Relationship Modeling, Lean Systems analysis, and other engineering tools) to assess equipment operational and reliability risk.
    • Provide technical oversight and management for the development of the facility’s equipment hierarchy.
    • Use statistical methods to analyze asset failure data to determine the need for adjustments in MRO inventory, planned maintenance frequencies and equipment design.
    • Use statistical methods and reliability modeling to determine optimized equipment maintenance strategies based on cost of process downtime, cost of direct maintenance, MTBF, MTTR, EHS, safety, and other key metrics.
    • Review and validate maintenance tasks to mitigate risk of equipment failure.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment
    :
    • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
    • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout‑tagout methods.
    • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts, defects in equipment or protective devices, and accidents/incidents to supervisor.
    • Ensure that required protective equipment is used for assigned tasks and attend required health, safety and environmental training.
    • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents and refrain from engaging in unsafe or non‑productive activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related experience (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Maintenance Manager/Engineer in a discrete manufacturing environment (Life Sciences, Automotive, Energy, Consumer Goods).
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), or similar certifications.
  • In‑depth working knowledge of risk‑based analysis tools such as Criticality Analysis and FMEA.
  • Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and/or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Demonstrated experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance technologies and strategies, and ability to lead teams in sustainable system development.
  • Understanding of BOM, critical spares, asset hierarchy, and how they impact asset maintenance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of technical drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS/EAM software (SAP, MAXIMO, MP2, etc.) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles and mechanical system applications.
