Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Engineer – Geotechnical to support multi‑discipline teams on heavy civil works projects such as generation, power infrastructure (transmission, distribution, substations), solar, wind, dams, buried infrastructure, tunnels, and more. The role blends design, field investigation, and construction oversight in an environment that values collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation.
The TeamAs part of BV Operations, you will work on projects across our three market sectors – Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial – both locally and globally. In this dynamic setting you will support projects ranging from community upgrades to large‑scale mega projects, while developing your technical skills and career trajectory.
Key Responsibilities- Work with multi‑discipline teams to develop design materials, including design calculations, sketches, and geotechnical reports for heavy civil works projects.
- Perform and coordinate field investigations, manage data collection, and prepare field and design reports to meet project requirements.
- Coordinate, observe, and document construction activities such as grouting, ground improvement, deep foundations, and retaining walls.
- Provide an estimate of field travel (20–40% of time) and support project execution in both office and field settings.
- Experience with geotechnical investigations, grouting, ground improvement, deep foundations, and retaining walls.
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Active Engineering‑In‑Training (EIT) license.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1 year related work experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and job assignments.
- Typical environment includes office and construction sites with exposure to extreme weather, high noise, electrical hazards, and chemical exposure.
- Physically demanding tasks may include sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and performing tasks in confined spaces.
