Position: VLT Technician (Eldorado Scioto Down - Columbus, OH)

Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest caliber customer service to all patrons/employees of Scioto Downs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair any VLT machine and related equipment, including all circuit boards, without assistance.
  • Be responsible for the initial set‑up and check‑out of new VLT machines, ensuring the machines are in proper working condition.
  • Perform floor repair and preventative maintenance of all VLT machines, including cleaning and overhauls.
  • Observe all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the integrity of the VLT machine equipment and secure all company assets and property at all times.
  • Secure keys, radios, tools, gaming‑related licenses and player tracking cards from check‑in to check‑out, and complete all regulatory and company operational logs/forms correctly (e.g., meal books, repair logs).
  • Work with Technical Shift Managers, VLT Shift Managers, Representatives and Supervisors to insure VLT machines and related equipment are in proper working order and all customer needs are satisfied.
  • Complete VLT machine repair slips and related repair logs (e.g., CPU, I/O and parts sign‑out sheets); perform renovations or changes in the VLT Department area; tag repairable parts with appropriate information.
  • Circulate through the assigned area replacing broken or burned‑out bulbs, rubbing reels, etc.
  • Advise the Technical Manager in developing and teaching advanced electronic repairs.
  • Assist patrons by explaining club membership, application forms, benefits, and how the card works at the slot machine; assist other floor personnel when advanced troubleshooting skills are required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of electronics and computer systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for all related slot equipment changes, cage equipment, computer and networks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work; set and achieve high performance standards.
  • Ability to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints; ability to travel to various locations of the business.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, critical thinking and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to conduct analyses and generate reports to reflect findings.
  • Ability to express ideas or make recommendations concerning job‑related issues; learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments; maintain knowledge of basic concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to perceive quality of work, read material and review documents; review instructions and hear inquiries from guests, clients or staff.
  • Physical abilities: lift and carry heavy objects (~60 lbs); stand for extended periods (~4 hrs); sit for extended periods (~2 hrs); reach for short distances; use tools and equipment (drill press, soldering gun); kneel, bend and stoop.
  • Ability to perceive sizes, shapes, temperatures, textures, etc.; smell odors or aromas; perceive depth and distances; respond to emergency distress signals; inspect or secure proper use of equipment.
  • Ability to withstand high‑frequency noises or sounds of varying tones and to tolerate varying degrees of lighting.
  • Minimum of one‑year slot repair experience in a gaming environment and/or 1,000 hours formal training in electronics or equivalent related work experience.
  • Maintenance and electronic background helpful.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • May be exposed to working in a noisy, smoke/secondary smoke environment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing, and able to pass a background investigation.
