OverviewThe State and Local (SALT) team is expanding within EY. As a Tax Senior Manager you will manage state tax partnership compliance, tax planning, consulting, and legislative developments for hedge funds, private equity, banking, and real estate clients.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.
- Identify potential opportunities and risks and communicate these to clients.
- Research current market trends and maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities.
- Research clients’ business operations and build relationships to tailor advice to their needs.
- Supervise a motivated team ensuring they have skills, knowledge, and growth opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
- CPA, licensed Attorney or EA.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in state and local income/franchise tax processes.
- Experience managing budgets, people and projects.
- Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
- Record in a professional services environment or in‑house experience in wealth and asset management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium Pro.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Ability to adapt style to work with internal and client teams.

What We Offer- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranging from $132,700 to $303,200 nationwide, adjusted for the New York City, Washington, and California markets.
