Controller
Location: Columbus, OH
Base Pay Range$120,000 – $160,000 per year
About the RoleOur client is seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead their financial operations and ensure the integrity of all accounting and reporting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic thinker who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about driving financial excellence, compliance, and operational efficiency.
As Controller, you will oversee the accounting department and play a key role in shaping financial strategy, managing internal controls, and supporting cross‑functional initiatives that enhance organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month‑end/year‑end close processes.
- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and monitor budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support strategic decision‑making.
- Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Supervise payroll and related compliance functions to guarantee timely and accurate compensation.
- Drive process improvements and implement workflow automation to increase efficiency and accuracy across financial operations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to align financial practices with organizational goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with Paychex payroll software a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams and influence cross‑functional initiatives effectively.
