Job Description

Guided by the agency's mission "To reduce recidivism among those we touch," the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated security‑minded professional to assume the responsibilities of a Parole Program Specialist.

Parole Program Specialist, Fugitive Section, Franklin County
** Please note this position will work 3rd shift hours!

Job Duties
  • Serves as parole program specialist in area of Fugitive Section under direction of Parole Program Administrator 1.
  • Processes arrests information of at‑large offenders.
  • Issues lost time for PRC cases & requests lost time from BOSC for parole/TRC offenders.
  • Authorizes, restores Minutes for all at‑large offenders.
  • Authorizes waiver to time frames for issuing warrants for offenders under APA supervision.
  • Maintains LEADS/NCIC certification.
  • Follows up on leads/tips/information to locate offenders declared at large.
  • Uses range of resources to include LEADS & other national databases to obtain information on possible whereabouts of at large offenders.
  • Works with outside law enforcement agencies to locate & have at large offenders arrested.
  • Monitors & tracks offenders in custody outside of Ohio being held on APA warrants.
  • Arranges for offender’s return upon availability.
  • Requests Governor’s warrant when necessary.
  • Obtains information relating to offenders out of state charges for use at APA violation hearings.
  • Works closely with Office of Prisons to handle institution escapes/walk‑aways.
  • Issues & monitors warrants for inmates as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between institution & field in order to have erroneous release cases brought back to institution.
  • Acts as liaison between fugitive section & victim services on victim notify cases.
  • Acts as liaison between fugitive section & parole board on policy & procedure compliance issues.
  • Acts as liaison with DRC to resolve status of prior incarcerations.
  • Submits cases for termination by way of Administrative Release due to out of state convictions, deportation, or lengthy violator at large…
